SYDNEY -- Incu蚂蚁磁力mbent President David Adeang has been re-elected as president of Nauru for a second term following Saturday's national elections.
The government of Nauru said in a post on social media that Adeang was elected unopposed as president during the inaugural sitting of the Micronesian nation's 25th parliament on Tuesday.
Adeang has served as Nauru's president since October 2023 and as a member of parliament (MP) since 2001.
He was one of 19 MPs elected to represent Nauru's eight multi-member constituencies in the 25th parliament at the national elections on Saturday.
Adeang received the most votes of the four MPs elected to represent Ubenide, which is Nauru's most populous constituency.
Marcus Stephen蚂蚁磁力, who served as Nauru's president between 2007 and 2011, was on Tuesday re-elected as the speaker of the parliament.
