When asked at a regular news conference whether China recognizes the Afghan interim government, Mao said China follows a friendly policy toward all Afghan people.

Mao's remarks came after Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived at Kabul on Wednesday to visit Afghanistan and attend the sixth trilateral foreign ministers' dialogue among China, Afghanistan and Pakistan.
